The corner restaurant is under a new name. The haunt event at Hersheypark has quietly grown into something structurally different than it was two seasons ago. Neither is a small tweak. Together, they redraw the fall calendar residents have been running on autopilot.
The Corner Of Cocoa And Chocolate Has A New Tenant
If you walked past 27 West Chocolate Avenue this summer, you saw the transition in progress. Houlihan's stayed open through December 31, 2025, after nearly 20 years of serving the Hershey community, and the space is being reworked into Hershey Social Restaurant + Bar. The new concept is set to debut in spring 2026, positioned near the intersection of Cocoa and Chocolate Avenue, pairing bold flavors and signature cocktails with interactive darts and trivia.
That last detail is the one worth paying attention to. Houlihan's was a sit-down dinner stop. Hershey Social is being programmed as a seven-day-a-week lunch and dinner venue, with games built into the room. The corner is shifting from a place you booked a table to a place you drop into after a Bears game or a show at Hershey Theatre. If you've built a Friday routine around that block, expect the crowd and the pace to feel different by the time the leaves turn.
For context on scale: Hershey Social joins Hershey Entertainment & Resorts' 14 other restaurants across the destination. It's the biggest change to the downtown dining lineup in the last decade, and it lands on the most visible corner in town.

The other structural change this fall is at the park. Hersheypark Halloween and Dark Nights are back for their fifth year, and the event has finished growing into what it was always designed to be.

The 2026 season adds Reese's Depot Of Doom as a fifth scare zone, bringing the event to five houses and five scare zones. It opens Saturday, September 12, 2026, and runs select nights across eight weekends through Sunday, November 1.
Two details separate this year from earlier seasons for residents specifically.
First, the pricing model. Every ticket includes the haunted houses, the scare zones, all rides and coasters, and the family-friendly Hersheypark Halloween programming that runs alongside it, with no separate Dark Nights upcharge, and the event is included with a 2026 Season Pass+. If you already hold a Season Pass+, the September through November window is the highest-value stretch of the year on a per-visit basis.
Second, the flow of the park after 6 p.m. There is a bypass area after 6:00 p.m. to avoid the scarier zones at Dark Nights, which matters if you're bringing younger kids on a weekend evening and want the trick-or-treat trail without the haunt traffic. Hersheypark Halloween includes a family-friendly trick-or-treat trail for kids 12 and under, followed after dark by the adult-oriented Dark Nights. Same ticket, two experiences, one park.

The park and the corner aren't the only things on the schedule. The GIANT Center and Hershey Theatre both have anchor dates worth marking now, because presale windows on the bigger acts move quickly.

The 2026 park schedule is compressed. The full summer season runs daily May 21 through September 7, including The Boardwalk water park from Memorial Day through Labor Day. After Labor Day, Hersheypark shifts to weekends only until Christmas Candylane opens, which means the same weekend nights carry more of the fall visitor volume than they used to when the park ran later daily hours.
